Robert "Russell" Jimerson was the son of John Parvin Jimerson and Anna Ruhama Overcast Jimerson. Russell joined the Army Signal Corp early in WWII. He received various medals as recognition for his service including eight bronze stars. As a Sergeamt he enjoyed direct relationship with the soldiers and turned down an officer commission, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Initially at the conclusion of the War he was stationed in Japan. It was while stationed in post WWII Germany that Russell met and married Lilo. They lived in the Independence area for over twenty years before relocating in Oak Grove, MO. They had four daughters and one son. Among other military campaigns in which he participated are the battles of Normandy and Sicily. Russell is buried close to his two year younger sister, Virginia Maxine Jimerson Clark. Russell descends from a long line of American soldiers. His forefathers came to the Americas in the mid 1600s and early 1700s.
His grandfather, Jefferson D Jimerson survived the Civil War including the infamous battles at Shiloh, MS. Russell is also a direct descendent of several soldiers in the revolutionary war including Matthew Alexander and Abraham Aaron Arnn. bio by neice, Bettye
