4/11/1916 OBITUARY (Tuesday) --Rev. Andrew C. Hunter, 96, the oldest citizen of Oklahoma City with one exception, died early Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T.C. Lintnger, 35 E. 2nd street. For several years Reverend Hunter had been in feeble health and for the past twelve months had been confined to his bed. Funeral services will be held at the Street & Draper chapel Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Dr. I. Frank Roach, pastor of the First Methodist church, will officiate. Interment will be in Fairlawn cemetery. Mr. Hunter was a native Tarheel, having been born in Buncombe county, North Carolina, August 27, 1820. At the early age of 20 he entered the ministry and was actively engaged in it for fifty-five years. He was affiliated with the Methodist church, south. For half a century, Mr. Hunter had been identified with the Masonic fraternity and was probably one of the oldest Masons in Oklahoma. Reverend Hunter was the head of four generations of the Hunter family living in Oklahoma City, the other branches being his son and daughter, Dr. S.M. Hunter and Mrs. T.C. Lininger; his grandson, City Physician Dr. George Hunter, and the latter's infant son. W.H. Hunter and T.E. Hunter, sons of the deceased, reside respectively at Fairplay, Col., and Pawhuska, Okla., Mrs. Mattie Stamper, a daughter, lives at Cleveland, Tenn. Twenty-four grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive him. The aged clergyman had been a resident of Oklahoma City for about fourteen years, coming here from Alabama.[THE OKLAHOMAN]
