Alexander, who has been a resident of Van Zandt County for 45 years, succumbed to an attack of the flu, the end coming Saturday, March 7 at noon. Mr. Alexander was born in the state of Missouri, coming to Grayson County, Texas, 53 years ago. Eight years later he came to Van Zandt County, but has been living on his home place at Creagleville, for 40 years. Uncle Sam, as was affectionately known, was married three times. The funeral services were conducted by Bro. McKenzie, pastor of the Church of Christ. He brought out the fact that Mr. Alexander was loved and respected by all of those whom he had come in contact with. This fact was well proven by the immense throng who had come out to pay their last respects to the deceased, it being estimated that there were between 1,500 and 2,000 people present The
remains were laid to rest in the Creagleville cemetery."....obituary from the Grand Saline Sun, March 12, 1925.
