Lester A. Sykes, dies Sunday:
Lester Aaron Sykes, 27, died at 6 p.m. Sunday at the home of his brother, J.V. Sykes, Battiest, following an extended illness. A native of Booneville, Ar. he had resided at Battiest 15 months moving there from Oregon.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Battiest cemetery with Rev. J. W. Reddick officting, Interment was under direction of Coffey funeral home.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. T. J. Sykes, Battiest, brothers; Virgil and J .V. Sykes, Battiest and Lonnie Sykes, Muskogee and two sisters, Mrs Jim Davis, Honobia and Mrs. J.C. Wilhite, Battiest.
(His grave is located just south of Lillie Sykes grave)

In 1999 there was a small concrete marker, but in 2013, the marker is completely gone. He is buried in same row as his father Thomas Jefferson Sykes.
