Jean was born and raised in Peterborough, England, when she was 22 years old she met Harry Vance Alfrey on the US Air Force Base in Lakenheath, England. They were married a year later and came to the United States not long after that. That's how she became a long time resident of Houston, Texas. She worked in Pasadena Independent School District for 24 years until she retired in 1999. Jean was outgoing, friendly, and she never met a stranger. She had a wide variety of interests and passions including traveling, knitting crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. It can be said with confidence she lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute of it.
Jean is preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Harry Vance Alfrey. She is survived by her three sons, Vance Alfrey, David Alfrey,and Daniel Alfrey and her daughter Deborah Alfrey- Flores; her grandchildren, Glenn and Eric Alfrey, Donny Cole, Timmy and Amy Alfrey, David and Peggy Flores, and Bryan and Karyssa Alfrey; and many great- grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Jean will be greatly missed by all.
The Celebration of Jean's life will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, September 27th , at Niday Funeral Home – Beamer Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service, starting at 12:00pm. Jean will be laid to rest with her husband at Houston National Cemetery.
