Mrs. Geneva Brooks Bare, 88, of the Baptist Home at Ironton, Mo., died Sunday, September 28, 1997, at the Arcadia Valley Hospital in Pilot Knob, Mo.

Born December 7, 1908, in Cooter, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Emory and Susie Patrick Brooks.

She was united in marriage with Chester E. Bare on May 1, 1931, in St. James, Mo. He preceded her in death. A son, Robert Allen Bare, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bare leave her sisters: Mildred Brooks Sellers of Jackson, Tenn., and Mary Sue (Robert) Ellison of Belleville, Ill.; a brother, Charley Frank Brooks of Tamaroa, Ill.; her nieces: Rebecca (Dennis) Stokes, Nancy Miller, Leslie (Richard) Graves, Beverly Watson, Patricia Rogers, and Shiela (Denny) Murley; and nephews: Chuck (Tracy) Brooks, Larry Sellers, Fred Sellers, Ronald (Susie) Sellers, and Sam (Rita) Sellers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bare were held Thursday, October 2, 1997, at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter with Rev. Joe Smith and Rev. Doug Applegate officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Mo., with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele, Mo., in charge.

Pallbearers were: Chuck Brooks, Larry Sellers, Jim Lyles, Tim Smith, Chris Thomas, and John H. Smith.
Memorials may be made to The Baptist Home for the Aged, Ironton, Mo., Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter, or Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
