Professional Football Player. For ten seasons (1955, 1957 to 1965), he played at the defensive back, linebacker and halfback positions in the National and Canadian Football Leagues with the Chicago Cardinals, Montreal Alouettes, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins. Born James Henry Carr, he attended East Bank High School in West Virginia and played collegiate football at the University of Charleston (West Virginia). Signed by the Cardinals as a non drafted player, he appeared in 108 career regular season games and yielded a career-high 5 interceptions in 1959. Carr experienced a World Championship with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1960, as their starting left-corner-back. After retiring as a player, he embarked upon a 30-year career as an assistant coach with several teams including the Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots and the Denver Gold of the United States Football League. In addition, he was on the staffs of numerous teams in Europe.
