Linda Carol Perkins loved and was loved by her family and everyone who knew her. She was very proud of her sister Paula. At a family reunion in 2004 she told me about some of Paula's many accomplishments. She said with the sweetest smile on her face softly "she (Paula) is a very big deal in her job". Linda was always thoughtful and had a great sense of humor. I once mentioned to our Aunt Char that Linda loved to swear and was good at it. Aunt Char then 84 years old said well she is, after all, my niece. Linda remained an independent thinker, an excellent student, and hard worker. She was very close to her Tio Delmer who died shortly after her. Uncle Delmer always welcomed Linda on her terms and embraced her fight against prejudices and judgmental thinking. They shared many wonderful times together. Linda stood strong refusing to alter her beliefs no matter the cost. One of the last letters I received from Linda she sent me a photo of her grandchildren and told me how much she loves her daughter Trish and beautiful (and they are) grandchildren.

Linda is the daughter of Leonard and Cloie Gillespie. She was born September 17, 1944 in Albany, California. She graduated high school as valedictorian in Artesia, New Mexico. Linda received her Bachelor's degree and her Master's degree from Eastern New Mexico University. She served as Director Children's Adoptive Services for the New Mexico Welfare Department for many years.

Linda passed from our sight in 2006 after a very courageous fight with cancer. Linda is survived by her husband Don Perkins. They were married almost 10 years. She is also survived by her Mother Cloie Gillespie, her sister Paula, and her daughter Trisha Morgan born November 17, 1969 in Las Cruces, NM, and a granddaughter and grandson.

Linda was predeceased by her Father Leonard Gillespie who died of heart failure in May 30, 1985 and her first husband Harold Michael Morgan "Mike" and Father of her only child Trisha. Mike died July 12, 1998 of cancer.

Linda you told me once that you thought I was your alter ego. I wear that complement with pride my dearest Cousin. You are missed and loved everyday by all of us. Linda did not want a funeral but had a beautiful memorial with many in attendance. Honoring her wishes her beloved Mother and Sister sprinkled her ashes at sea.
