The Rev. Robert "Wallis" Kornegay of New Braunfels died on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Austin at the age of 81 years. Rev. Wallis was born on April 13, 1919 in Rogers to Lewis W. Kornegay and Lillian Wise Kornegay.

He was a graduate of The Bethany Nazarene College now known as the Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma.

Rev. Wallis ministered for 60 years in San Antonio, California and New Braunfels, where he retired in 1993 from the Church of the Nazarene in New Braunfels.

He was a member of the Kiwanis, serving in various offices. Rev. Wallis is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Eva Louise Kornegay; son Wally R. Kornegay and his wife, Yolanda of Manor; grandchildren Stephen Dean Kornegay and his wife Kris, Allison C. Kallaway and Jackie Velasquez; brothers Weldon Kornegay and his wife, Ora, and Garland Kornegay; sisters Lomita Kornegay and Mary Lillian Maxwell and her husband, Ray; and numerous other loving family members and frends.

Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Oct. 12. 2000, in the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jerry Marcoe officiating. Interment will follow at the Comal Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday with the family to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Zoeller Funeral Home.

Pallbearers Jacob Wesolick, Barry Moore, Jerry Waterman, Bobby Sharp, Stephen Kornegay and D'Wayne Rathburn.
