As stated in his pension application, Vonnie Cantrell reminds us that Thomas Cadle, a young soldier from North Carolina, was one of the heroes who fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain, a turning point in the American Revolution, as well as the Battle of Cowpens and Guilford Court House. Pauline Haga and her husband Les assisted with getting the Presidential Certificate, requesting and setting the tombstone to place in the cemetery with the original stone. Pauline is a West Virginian historian doing what they call 'Honoring the Old Soldiers' in WV.
