Steven L. Broten of Pratt, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at his home from natural causes. He was 34.
Steven was born October 12, 1967, in Lake City, son of Richard and Carol (Krahulec) Broten LaCanne. He graduated from Owatonna High School in 1986. He then graduated from the Austin Vocational-Technical College in 1988 in Automobile Body Repair.
Shortly after college he began work for Firestone Tire Co. He then worked for Manpower Inc. for several years. He was now employed at Truth Hardware.
In 1996 he married Katie Strand in Alexandria. They were later divorced.
Mr. Broten enjoyed collecting model cars, music, spending time with his friends and vacationing in Wisconsin.
Steve is survived by has mother and stepfather, Carol and Leo LaCanne of Morristown; father, Richard Broten of Rochester; stepbrother Ronald (and Gwen) LaCanne of Faribault; stepsister, Rebecca (and Lyle) Kline of Faribault; maternal grandfather, George Krahulec of Morristown, formerly of Owatonna; uncle, Jim Krahulec of O'Fallon, IL; and special friend, Val Cowan.
