Alvin Bray

Alvin A. Bray of Tecumseh passed away Sunday, March 20 at the Johnson County hospital in Tecumseh. Alvin had a lingering illness.
Alvin was born on August 16, 1909 to Harvey I. and Mary Mannschreck Bray near Burr.
On August 1, 1940 he was united in marriage to Lena Kress of Sterling. Lena passed away on May 2, 1980 at Sterling. On February 11, 1983, Alvin was united in marriage to Lillian Speckman at the St. Andrews Catholic church in Tecumseh.
Alvin worked as a mechanic and later as a carpenter, he was self-employed in later years. He retired about a year ago.
Alvin was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic church for five years and a member of the American Legion. He served with the Army Air Force in the military police in Culver City, CA. for three years 1942 - 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian; step-children, Orville Speckmann and Alvin Speckmann both of Tecumseh; four step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Hazen of Cook and Ruby Mason of Tecumseh, his Mother, Mrs. Harvey M. Bray of the Tecumseh Care Center.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Andrews Catholic church in Tecumseh with Father Raymond Hain officiating with graveside services conducted by the American Legion Post 140 at Sterling.
Pallbearers are John Speckmann, Dale Speckmann, Richard Hazen, Donald Hazen, Kenneth Bray and Larry Mason.
Interment will be in the St. Andrews' Catholic Cemetery, Tecumseh, Wherry Mortuary, was in charge of arrangements.
