Memorial services will be held Saturday at a 4:00 p.m. in the Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas for Helen "Sunny" Smith age 66, the former Helen Fortenberry, who passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas.
The Rev.Chad Thibodeaux, pastor of Vatican Baptist Church, will officiate at the services.
Ms. Smith was a native of Columbia, MS, a resident of Breaux Bridge from 1984 until three years ago, when she moved to Opelousas.
Survivors include: two nieces, Rhonda Greenwood and her husband Charles, of Hallsville, TX and Frani Sharpe of Opelousas; a nephew, Jay Magee and his wife, Theresa, of Meridian, MS; also seven great nieces and nephews, Jaydah Major, Chris Magee, Jackson Greenwood, Tyler Greenwood, Cortnie Holmes, Kadi Magee and Zack Magee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Celia Fortenberry, a son, Tony McDaniel; two brothers, Joseph and Charles Fortenberry; her twin sister, Fran Moran and a grandchild, Shelton Silver.
Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas, 4708 I-49 North Service Road in Louisiana was in charge of services.
