Albert "Mick" Ackerman, 65, of Troy, IL, born February 17, 1947 in Alton, IL, died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Emery County Medical Center in Paris, TN
Mr. Ackerman retired from Granite City Steel where he was the Maintenance Foreman for the Hot Strip Roll Shop. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and VFW Post Troy, IL. "Mick" enjoyed all sports, especially golf, fishing and anything related to Mizzou. He also enjoyed coaching Khoury league ball. "Mick" was a great provider, husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert A. and Frances J. (nee Thomas) Ackerman.
Surviving are his wife Joyce A. Ackerman (nee Weber) of Troy, IL; his son Joshua M. (Julie) Ackerman of Troy, IL; daughter Karen E. (Curtis) James of Troy, IL; grandchildren Ian and Spencer James and Isaac Ackerman; brother Thomas G. Ackerman of Renton, WA; sister-in-law Janet (nee Weber) Ackerman of Collinsville, IL; nephew Todd Ackerman and many friends.
Memorials may be made to St. Jerome Catholic Church or American Heart Association.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin~Richeson Funeral Home, Troy, IL, May 2, 2012 and 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday May 3, 2012, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Troy, Ill.
Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday May 3, 2012, at St. Jerome Catholic Church with Fr. Pat Jakel officiating. Burial will be at Buck Road Cemetery, Maryville, Ill.
