James R. "Jim" Pickering was born in Rural Saline County, Kansas on April 16, 1930 to the late Nora Borst and Benjamin Pickering. He worked as a Telephone Technician at SW Bell and AT&T. James was a member of the VFW Salina Post #1432 and Telephone Pioneers of America. James is survived by his companion, Esther Scott of Salina; daughter, Brenda Copp and husband David, of Salina; a son, Brian Pickering and wife Cheryl, of Salina; grandsons, Curtis Pickering and wife Andrea of Salina, Benjamin Pickering of Salina; granddaughter, April Saskowski and husband Kyle of Salina; as well as great grandchildren, Bailey, Payten, Easton, Talan, Mara, and Gavin. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaDonna; sons, Brad Pickering and Alan Pickering; brother, Richard Pickering; and sisters, Nona Smith and Betty Smith.
