Pfc. Dustin D. Gross, 19, of Jeffersonville, Ky., died May 7, in Ghazni province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device. They were assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. Pfc Gross, son of Angie Brown and Stacy Gross, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 in Afganistan. He was a 19 year old native of Montgomery County, Montgomery County High School graduate, an Army veteran and a member of The Cathedral of Glory. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Christopher Wayne Gross of Jeffersonville, maternal grandfather, Richard "Satch" Brown of Mt. Sterling, maternal grandmother, Benda Moore of Mt. Sterling, paternal grandfather, Bill Ray Gross of Menifee County, 2 aunts, Jill Tipton and Toni Richardson, both of Mt. Sterling, 2 uncles, Jeff Brown of Carlisle and Steve Brown of Winchester and numeous cousins. His funeral was held 11:00 Thursday at Montgomery County High School Arena with burial in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation was at 5-9:00 Wednesday at the school. Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.
