Francis Amdor Killed in Auto Accident

The tragic death of Francis P. Amdor brought sorrow to his loved ones and the entire community, when it was learned that he had passed away following an automobile accident shortly after midnight Friday night, three blocks from his home in Michigan City, Indiana. Francis had been employed in Michigan City for the past few months and having worked until midnight, he and his friends decided to take a ride and cool off.

His two friends who accompanied him were also killed. The real cause of the accident probably will never be known but to all appearances the driver lost control of the car, with the tragic results.

Francis P. Amdor, son of J. D. and Mary Amdor, was born September 19, 1921 and died Saturday, June 21, 1941 aged 19 years, 9 months, and 3 days. He received his education at Creighton University High school, Omaha. For the past months he has been employed at Michigan City and Sarasota, Florida.

He is survived by his parents and his brothers and sisters: Edward Amdor of Massena; Velma Sullivan of Bedford; Lulu Amdor of Michigan City, Indiana; Dorothy Amdor of Chicago, Illinois; Sarah Amdor of Omaha; Rita Amdor of Omaha; Donald of U. S. Navy; and Eugene Amdor at home. He leaves also many relatives and friends who grieve with the family in this tragic event which called one so young.

The body was brought to the home of his parents at Massena, Iowa and funeral services were held from the St. Patrick Catholic Church at Massena at 8:00 a.m. June 24, Rev. Patrick A. Flaven officiating, assisted by Rev. Father P. F. Morasco of Lenox, Iowa. Pall bearers were cousins, Billy Amdor, Bob Mack, Bill Quinn, Paul Jennings, Varral Connor, and Dudley Eblen. Honorary pall bearers were Clark Byrd, Jack Critum, Cyril Cullen, Frank Covey, John Daly, and Maurice Chicone.

Out of town friends who attended the funeral were Maurice Chicone, John Daly, Mrs. D. J. Farrell, Jr., Mary Ann Rather, of Omaha; Billy Farrell, Gering, Nebraska; and many friends from Corning, Atlantic, Carbon, and Grant.
