Barrow, Florence Nielsen

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 9, 1997 at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Liberty First Ward on French Ave for Florence Nielson Barrow of Gridley. She died Thursday, January 30, 1997 at Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Florence was born 16 October 1901 in Olio, Kirtland, New Mexico. She was 6th of the 10 children born to John Thomas Nielsen and Clara Bond. Siblings: John Thomas Nielson Jr (1890), Annie Esther Nielson (1892), Emily Cornelia Nielson (1895), Elzada Albertha Nielson (1897), Hulda Agnes Nielson (1899), Elzina Nielson (1905), Maurine Nielson (1907), Gladys Nielson (1910) and Clara Nielson (1912). She married Orvil Elihu Barrow 23 January 1925 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. She was a Butte County resident for 80 years. She worked for over 60 years in Gridley as a medical and dental assistant and was an active member of the Church of Latter-day Saints. She loved her family, dancing and staying physically fit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvil Elihu Barrow; her brothers and sisters, John Thomas Nielson, Jr; Annie Esther Nielson; Emily Cornelia Barrow; Elzada Albertha Nielson Hulda Agnes Taylor; Elzina Cordon; Maurine Nielson and Clara Nielson. She is survived by her son, Allan Orvil Barrow of Yuba City; and her daughter, Sharon Marie Checketts of Mesa, Arizona. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 1997 from 1 to 5 and Saturday, February 8, 1997 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel. Bishop Darrell Stewart of the LDS Church will officiate. Interment will be held Monday, February 10, 1997 at 1 p.m. at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery. Contributions to the Gridley Stake Genealogical Library are suggested by the family and may be left at the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, 679 Ohio Street, Gridley.
