Mary M. Ball, age 93, of 159 Jay Ball Drive passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN. She was born on February 2, 1919 and was a lifelong resident of the Elk Knob Community. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lizzie Sprinkle; an infant sister; one granddaughter, Mary Ann Hall; and her husband of 53 years, Burley (Bill) Ball. She was a loving mother to four daughters: Audrey Cox and husband Jim of Clarksville, TN; Helen Brewster and husband John of Roanoke, VA; Ann Hall and husband John of Fairfax, VA; and Thelma Rasnic and husband Rufes of Clarksville, TN. A grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great- grandchildren. She had the pleasure of raising two of the grandchildren, Susan Fleenor and Randy Ball. She is also survived by one brother, Ernest V. Sprinkle of Winchester, KY, and a host of relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. at Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap on Sunday, April 29, 2012. Funeral services will follow with Dr. Charles Barrier officiating. Committal graveside services will be on Monday, April 30 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway.
