Dorman Anderson, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 18, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, October 22, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Rod Payne and Rev. Howard Chapman officiating. Burial will follow the service in Crestview Cemetery under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Dorman was born on August 18, 1926 to Joe and Mae (Leavell) Anderson in Ryan, Oklahoma, the oldest of 3 children. After attending and graduating from school in Terral, Oklahoma, he entered the U.S. Navy where he proudly served for 2 years.

Dorman met Oma Joyce Cleveland while attending school in Terral. They were friends throughout their school years and only began to date when Dorman was attending the University of Oklahoma and Oma was attending OCW at Chickasha. After a 3 year courtship, Dorman and Oma were married December 21, 1951. They had 2 handsome sons, Terry their oldest and then Kevin.

Dorman graduated from OU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in geology and business. He started the "Dorman Anderson Oil Company" in Wichita Falls, Texas and was very successful in his exploration of oil and gas in Texas and Oklahoma. Dorman was an active member of the North Texas Oil and Gas Association for many, many years. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church.

Although he was a successful independent oil producer, Dorman was a devoted husband and father. He often took Terry and Kevin hunting and fishing instilling in them a sense of loyalty and honesty that made their parents very proud.

When his granddaughters Sophia and Anna were born, Dorman became the doting grandfather. Sophia and Anna would come over to visit and Dorman would load them up and take them out to eat filling their time together with stories of history and his travels; both passionate hobbies of Dorman's.

His infectious laugh will be missed.

Dorman's parents, Joe and Mae Anderson, along with his 2 younger brothers, Millard "Toad" Anderson and Milton "Chick" Anderson, have preceded him in death.

Dorman is survived by his wife of 60 years, Oma Anderson; his 2 sons Terry Anderson of Wichita Falls, Texas; Kevin Anderson and his 2 daughters, Sophia and Anna of Flower Mound, Texas and his extended family, friends and business associate to numerous to list.

The family will be at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 1-2 PM, for visitation.

Pallbearers will be Mike Kincade, Ron Lackey, Peyton Carnes, Charlie McBride, Richard DeMoss and Tom Jordan.
