Mrs. White, born in 1919, was the daughter of the late Septimus and Mabel Phillips Hunt. A lifelong resident of Poquoson, she attended Poquoson public schools and received her teaching certificate from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va.
In 1943, she married Albert S. "Sid" White Jr., Sheriff and civic leader in the York County and Poquoson area. The couple had three children, all of whom survive her. As a young married woman, Mrs. White taught first grade in the Poquoson school system. Later while raising her children, she often served as a substitute teacher. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she was devoted to extended family as well. Throughout her adult life, she was a patient and loving caregiver to parents, aunts, and other family members.
