Drowned.
Miss Jestina Bolding, 19 years old, was drowned at Eminence, Monday, while bathing in the river, about a quarter of a mile from town.
Several other ladies and small boys were in the river at the same time, but were unable to save the unfortunate girl. Miss Vincie Walker, the only good swimmer among them, made an heroic attempt to rescue Miss Bolding. The two grappled in the swift current until Mill Walker was exhausted and would have drowned, had it not been for the courage and presence of mind of Harvey DePriest, a thirteen year old boy who was standing on the bank, at the time. Seizing a pole, he rushed in to where Miss Walker could reach one end, thus supporting herself until she had gained strength to swim ashore. Miss Bolding's body was in the water some 25 minutes before it could be recovered, and though every effort possible was made, she could not be restored.
