Mary H. Gilbert, 67, of Davenport, died Monday, January 1, 2001, at her home in Davenport.

Visitation will be 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 4, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant and one hour prior to the service on Friday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Hospice in her memory.

Funeral services will be Noon, Friday, January 5, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport, with Rev. Apo officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Westphal, Alan Ralfs, Gene Westphal, Andy Simmons, Arthur Ramirez and Brian Thomas. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Mary Helen Hild was born January 6, 1933, in Davenport, the daughter of Francis and Helen (Kruse) Hild. She married Stuart Richard Steadman in August 1952 and were later divorced. She married Kenneth Dale Gilbert on February 12, 1966, in Cambridge, Illinois. She was employed as the office manager at Discount Copy Products in Bettendorf, until retiring in 1995. She was a member of Our Lady Of Victory Catholic Church in Davenport and the Communion of Saints Circle. She enjoyed sewing. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth of Davenport; two daughters, Ava (Matt) Simmons of Sherrard, IL, and Annette (Patrick) Henneberry of Chicago, IL; one son, Gregory (Star) Gilbert of Suffolk, VA; one step-daughter, Cheryl (Jerry) Vaughn of Ringgold, GA; one step-son, Randy (Henrietta) Gilbert of Fort Oglethorp, GA; 16 grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and three sisters-in-law, Janice (Alan) Ralfs of Stockton, Marlene (Robert) Westphal of Davenport and Donna (Arthur) Rairez of WIlton.

She was preceded by her parents, two sisters, Bertha Selhost and Florence Sullivan and one brother, George Hild.
