Margaret Bessett, 84, of Soap Lake, passed away September 1, 2000 at her home in Soap Lake. She was born June 16, 1916 to William and Katherine DeLong in Tioga, ND. Margaret married Norman Bessett on April 25, 1932 in Bellingham, WA. Norman and Margaret moved to the Ephrata-Soap Lake area in 1950.
She is survived by her husband, Norm at the family home, her sons Frank and Hahn Bessett of Reno, NV, John and Doris Bessett of Spokane, Bob and Lauralee Bessett of Moses Lake, Don and Cheryl Bessett of Ephrata; daughters Peggy Fitzgerald of Asotin, Joanne and Bud Wallace of Pasco, Linda and Richard Clayton of Pasco, Sharon and Terry Warden of Winthrop and daughter-in-law Barbara Bessett of Soap Lake; 34 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one sister Doris Wambold of Tacoma. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, one son Norman Jr. and one son-in-law, Dan Fitzgerald. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret and Norm loved to travel. Since retirement her hobby was collecting salt and pepper shakers. She had 450 pair from all over the world. She also loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She was very much loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Central Basin Hospice in memory of Margaret Bessett at 715 W. 3rd Ave., Moses Lake, WA 98837.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at 1:00 pm at Nicoles Funeral Home Chapel in Ephrata with private graveside services to follow at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake.
There will be a viewing held on Tuesday from 9 am to Noon.
