Born August 14, 1942 in Pigeon Creek, AL, the daughter of the late Minister Sanford and Louise(Crittenden) Reid.
Sister Averhart came to Niagara Falls in 1948 and attended local schools. She worked as a healthcare aide for HANCI, also doing domestic work in many area homes and businesses. She was a special friend to Dr. James and Mrs. Kroeplin, and the Clarkson Family.
Sister Averhart was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Revival Temple (1960). She served as an usher, sang in the deliverance choir and on the hospitality committee. Sister Averhart enjoyed being a servant of the Lord and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are three sons, Anthony Averhart, John Stephen (Valerie) Averhart and Terry Darin Averhart; four daughters, Phyliss Gwen (Van) Finklea, Deidre (Rev. William) Flynn, Carla Averhart and Tina Averhart; two sisters, Clodine(Jim) Singer and Annie (John) Chivers; 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends, including her oldest and dearest friend, Freddie Mae Bones and Hattie Finklea. Sister Averhart was also predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.
