Dowell, Val Dona - Services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, Friday at 1:30 p.m., for Valdona Irene Dowell, 55, 253 Las Flores, who died Oct. 1 in Bakersfield hospital. Dr. Thomas W. Toler will officiate, and interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Mrs Dowell, a native of Oklahoma, had resided in Kern County for 34 years, and was a clerk for 15 years, employed by Brock's Department Store, she was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include her husband Bill E Dowell; son Theron Dowell of Palmdale; brother Charles Meeks of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lea, June, and Wesley. Pallbearers will be Ernie Billingsley, Gary Cox, Dick Hatcher, Merlyn Moore, Floyd Martin, and Ralph Arms. The Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cancer society.
