She passed away on March 2, 2012, quietly, in her own home after a long illness.
She graduated from Franklin High School. She attended the University of Tennessee where she met and married her husband of 63 years Dr. Thad L. Morris.
They moved to Memphis in 1950 where he attended Dental School and she worked for General Motors Corp.
Throughout her life she was a member of many organizations and clubs. She is a past member of King's Daughters and the Memphis Dental Society Auxiliary and an active member of Priscilla Circle. She was an avid tennis and bridge player. Most of all she was a homemaker for her husband and three children.
Barbara enjoyed life. She traveled extensively with her family and friends. She visited all the United States and over seas. She loved to talk about what she had seen or experienced. She was deeply involved with the lives of her children and grandchildren.
She was a committed Christian. She loved the Lord. She belonged to Second Presbyterian Church and to the Jeb Russell Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Thad L. Morris; her three children, Dr. David C. Morris (Beth) of Olive Branch, MS, Nancy M. Ruff (David) of Germantown, TN, and Jane M. Giovannetti (Lee) of Memphis, TN; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers and a sister, Coleman H. Sawyer of Cleveland, TN, J. Tom Sawyer of Atlanta, GA, and Mary Von Posh of Norfolk, VA.
Visitation will be 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in the Second Presbyterian Sanctuary Lobby.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Second Presbyterian Church Sanctuary with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
