Jack Teague "Gandy" King, 89, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2012, of pneumonia at a Grapevine hospital. Service: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Francis Catholic Church, 861 Wildwood Ln., Grapevine, where the family will be present from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment: Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to the ASPCA of Dallas, aspca.org/donate.
Jack was born June 20, 1922, in Tuxedo, to Newton E. and Barbara Smith King. He served in Company K, 142 Infantry Regiment, 36th Division, from 1940 to 1946 in Italy during World War II. Jack was given his honorable discharge at Brooks General Hospital at Fort Sam Houston. He retired from the IRS as an auditor with many years of service. Jack was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Bergstrom King, in April 2001.
Survivors: Sons, Bill Bergstrom and wife, Judy, of Richardson, and David Bergstrom and wife Laura, of Houston; daughter, Diane Bergstrom Dumas and husband, Michael, of Dallas; grandchildren, Allison, Jason, Danielle, Zach, and Jennifer and husband, Phil; longtime, special friend, Tula Machak.
