On February 17, 2012, Harry E. "Buck" Davis, Jr., 81, of Edgewater for 23 years and formerly of Kentland, passed away at Futurecare Chesapeake in Arnold after a lengthy illness. Born November 28, 1930 to the late Mary E. and Harry E. Davis, Sr., Buck graduated in 1949 from Eastern High School in Washington, DC. He then served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War, where he played on the All Air Force Football Team in Japan. Buck went on to work as a truck driver for Air Products for 37 faithful years. He is a member of the Mayo American Legion Post 226; he is past Chief, Treasurer and Vice-President at Kentland Volunteer Fire Department, where he has been a member for over 50 years. Buck enjoyed being a volunteer firefighter and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, two sons, of Edgewater; 2 daughters, one of Lothian & one of Shady Side; five grandsons; three granddaughters; 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Stephanie. Friends are invited to Buck's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, on Tuesday, February 21 from 2-4 and 7-9PM where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 22 at 1PM. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations are recommended to the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department, 7701 Landover Road, Hyattsville, MD 20785.
