Charles E. Crouch was born in Hale County, May 3, 1910. He went to school there, through grade school, then finished school in Amarillo. At that time he worked for awhile in the oil fields in Pampa. Charlie came to the Vega area in late 1933, where he farmed and lived alone for about four years.
Charlie married Virginia Lofgren on November 10, 1937 in Vega, Texas, where they made their home for the remainder of their lives. Charles and Virginia had two daughters, Sharon "Cheri" and Gayle.
Charlie purchased his first section of land from T. B. Jones in about 1941 and later bought a second piece of adjoining land from him. They farmed the same land until their deaths.
Charles passed away July 8, 1986 and Virginia on January 31, 1997. Both were laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery, Vega, Oldham, Texas.
