BIG STONE GAP, Va. —Charles "Eddie" Adams, Sr., 60, passed away Sunday (May 18, 2008) at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap.
He was born in Appalachia, Va., the son of the late J.B. and Edna Adams. He served in the Virginia National Guard for six years, was a police officer for the Town of Big Stone Gap and Appalachia, Va. for ten years. He was also a security guard for A & A Security. He was a honorary member of the Appalachia Rescue Squad.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Bucky McFarland; his son, Charles E.Adams, Jr.; his daughter, April Adams, all of Big Stone Gap, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, J.B. Adams, Jr. and Shirley of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Tara, Tyler and Somer McFarland, Brittney and Courtney Adams, Carly Addington and Tabitha Collins; the mother of his children, Minnie Dalton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap,Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Smith officiating. Military rites, by the U.S. Army National Guard Honor Team and local V.F.W. and D.A.V. organizations, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at American Legion Cemetery.
