Vertie Mae Anastas, 80, of Jacksboro, Texas, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 2:00PM, Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Henrietta, Texas with Rev. Tony A. Rodgers, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church in Bowie, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery in Bellevue, Texas under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta.
Mrs. Anastas was born on August 29, 1931 in Georgia to Luther Augustus and Annie Lou (Bates) Alligood. She married Gene Anastas on May 25, 2006 in Jack County, Texas. She was a retired Nurses Aid for Clay County Memorial Hospital. She was a Baptist, a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxilary, and the Red Door Senior Citizens. She loved Crocheting, Visiting at the Red Door and Sports.
Mrs. Anastas was preceded in death by her parents; son Robert Tanner; 2 sisters Ann Hughes, and Mattie Lou Howell; 2 brothers Sgt. Hansel Alligood and Sgt. Luther J. Alligood;
Survivors include her husband Gaston E. Anastas of Jacksboro, TX; 2 daughters Bonnie Schneider and husband Eddie of Grennville, TN and Margie Barnett of Henrietta, TX; son Danny Tanner and wife Jana of VA; brother Ray Alligood and wife Pam of Milon, GA; 9 grandchildren Jennifer Barnett, Jeremy Sutherland, Donnie Barnett, Carrie Tanner, Shanea Tanner, Christan and Anthony Serrianne, Heather and Sherry Tanner; many great-grandchildren; many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be at the Davis Funeral Home Sunday January 1, 2012 from 6-7 PM.
