Funeral services for Orville Bayes, 90, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at Highland Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Blevins officiating and Rev. Bob Batson assisting. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Jean Cemetery near Olney, Texas. Services are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred of the home; a sister, Faye Hatcher of Hurricane, W.V.; two sons, Ralph Bayes of Monticello, Ark., and Charles Bayes of Mesquite, Texas; son- in-law, Don Boydston and wife Brenda of Olney; two stepdaughters, Kerry Lasiter of Santa Fe, N.M., and Karla Rothering of Lubbock; stepson, Kendal Pollard of Ennis, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Orville was preceded in death by his daughter, Patsy Boydston in 1967, and also by Martha Bayes and Vera Bayes.

He married Mildred Pollard on July 15, 1991, in Lubbock. Orville was born on Nov. 7, 1913, in South Charleston, W.V. He attended school in So uth Charleston and worked for 35 years for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #968 as an electrician in 25 states. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and their 3R senior group. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Jeff Goley and his Helper's Plus staff and to the Hospice of Lubbock Angels. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the South Plains Food Bank or Exodus Prison Ministry.
