Mexican Campaign Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Electrician Third Class. His citation reads "On board the USS Florida during the seizure of Vera Cruz, Mexico, 21-22 April 1914, and for extraordinary heroism in the line of his profession during this action."
