OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN)

Peggy Joann Corn, 80, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:19 A.M. Sunday, December 14, 2008, at Miller's Merry Manor South in Wabash. She was born April 23, 1928 in Somerset to Walter and Edna (Hawkins) Rinearson.

She married James Corn in North Manchester on June 9, 1946.

Joann was a 1946 graduate of Lagro High School and retired from the Urbana Elementary School Office after 10 years.

She was a member of the Lagro Community Church. Joann enjoyed playing the organ and played for 45 years. She was the Lagro Methodist Church organist 25 years, and the Lagro Community Church organist 12 years. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre.

She is survived by her husband, James Corn of Wabash; six children, James S. (Janet) Corn of Delphi, Randy D. Corn and Kristi (Ed) Hampton, both of Wabash, Doug Corn of Urbana, Todd (Sheila) Corn of Bloomfield; and Tina Reed of Lagro; two sisters, Jean Hiatt of Hammond and Bonnie Tyner of Wabash; ten grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister.

Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Richard Long and Joel Murray officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville. Friends may call 4-8 P.M., Tuesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorial is Lagro Community Church.
