Albert Ralph Bowe was born in Hocking, IA on April 24, 1918, the son of Wilbert and Hazel (Williams) Bowe. He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Plumber during World War II. On June 2, 1940, he married Betty J. Gibbons in Trenton, MO. After moving to Davenport in 1941, Albert began working at the Rock Island Arsenal before going to work for the City of Davenport as a waste water plant mechanic. He worked for the City of Davenport for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1980. When he retired, Albert was presented with a key to the city and was also honored with an award named after him at the current Davenport Waste Water Treatment Plant. He was past Commander and Secretary of the American Legion - Post #26, active in Dad's Club, and also coached girl's and boy's softball. Albert bowled for a number of years, and he also enjoyed reading, golfing, and traveling.
He is survived by his Wife: Betty Bowe of Davenport; two Daughters: Hazel Bowe of Eldridge, IA, Linda (Al) Houck of Hot Springs Village, AR; two Sons: Paul (Ellie) Bowe of Davenport, IA, Bob (Mary) Bowe of Naples, FL; a Sister: Edith (Bob) Eaton of Clarion, IA; 7 Grandchildren; 18 Great grandchildren and 15 Great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
