Son of the late Henry and Anne Determan Sykora, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence Sykora, Lavern Sykora and William Sykora. He was survived by his wife, Anne Beverly Kellen (married on Janaury 18, 1958, in Beardsley, MN); ten children, Mary Sykora, Cheryl Sykora, Linda Hoffman (Jeff), Diane Swenson (Tony), Paul Sykora, Peter Sykora, JoAnn Schumacher (Bart), Joe Sykora (Jennifer), Charlie Sykora and Theresa Van Riessen (Edwin); seven grandchildren; one sister, France Silvis (Robert); and an extended family of relatives. He was a graduate of Browns Valley High School (1946). He was a veteran of the United States Army. His funeral was held on December 7, 2004, at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN, with Father Stan Wieser officiating.
