Violet M. DuPont, 75, of Springfield passed away Monday, November 21, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center after battling lung cancer.
She was born in Springfield on April 30, 1936, to Frank and Frances (Runkul) Rowden. She married Martin DuPont in Springfield in 1954; he passed away in 1993.
Violet was the co-owner and operator of Vi's Pet Palace and a member of VFW Post 755.
She is survived by a son, Martin DuPont, Jr. of Springfield; two daughters, Kathy DuPont and Carla (Bill) Poggemiller both of Springfield; two grandchildren; a sister, Betty Brambrough of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2011, at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
