Crimea Veteran.Enlisted in the 3rd Light Dragoons in 1850 and 2 years later transferred to the 17th Lancers.In 1854 he was amongst the troops sent to fight in the Crimea and one of the 673 men in the charge of the Light Brigade,wounded in the stomach he returned to England in 1855.
In 1857 he rejoined his regiment and embarked for India at the outbreak of the Indian Rebellion,taking part in the Siege of Delhi and other such engagements.
Discharged from the Army he returned home to settle in the Twickenham area making his living as a Tailor as his father,Thomas.
