Born in Tazewell County, Va., he was the son of the late Samuel P. and Ellen Bowman. He was a retired miner and member of Newhall local UMWA 5995. His wife, Mrs. Rindy Bowman, two sons and one daughter preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dema Newberry and Mrs. Ethel Hodge of Newhall, two sons, Basil Bowman and Bundy Bowman of Baltimore, Md.; two brothers, Dan Bowman and Jake Bowman of Brewsterdale; 29 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
The body will be taken to the home of Mrs. Harry Hodge in Newhall at 4 p.m. today and to the church one hour prior to services.
Mullins Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements.
