Beatrice L. Gromoll, 85, a life long resident of Rock Island, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at River Park Healthcare Center, Rock Island.

Private services will be 9:30 a.m. today at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.

Beatrice Ittner was born Oct. 22, 1912, in Rock Island, the daughter of Fred and May Bosold Ittner. She married Harry O. Gromoll May 13, 1944, in Rock Island. He died Nov. 26, 1986.

She had been the officer manager of Cassini Tile and Marble Co., Rock Island, for 42 years, retiring in 1994. She also managed Rosenfield Apartments, Rock Island.

She was a life member of the National Association of Women in Construction and had been secretary of Rock Island Little League for 20 years. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include daughters, Judith Gromoll of Rock Island, and Jill Hoff of Moline; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Margaret Gromoll of Moline; a grandson, Matthew Hoff of Moline; and a sister-in-law, Esther Baker of Davenport.
