Venson Lyle Doyal went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, November 7, 2011, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years. He was born June 4, 1931, in Oilton, Oklahoma, to Homer and Clemmie (Hazlip) Doyal. Venson was reared and educated in Drumright, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Drumright High School Class of 1950. He was united in marriage to Dortha Tippit December 28, 1951, in Drumright. To this happy union, the couple was blessed with one daughter, Kimberly.
Venson proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After returning home after being honorably discharged, he began his career with Phillips Petroleum Company. He spent over 37 years with the company retiring in 1993 as an Operations Specialist. Those years of employment took the family to Borger, Texas; Kansas City, Kansas; Elkhart, Kansas; and Guyman, Oklahoma.
Venson was a faithful member of First Christian Church of Owasso. During the time the family lived in Elkhart, he served as a deacon and elder at the First Christian Church of Elkhart. While living in Guymon, he played golf nearly every day with his friends. The couple moved to Owasso in 1999 to be near family and especially to enjoy watching their grandchildren grow. Venson loved tending to his garden and flowers, and this past May his yard was selected as Yard of the Month of which he was very proud. He and Dortha enjoyed traveling and took many trips across the country and Canada. Venson was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
