Richard was a private in the American Revolutionary War with the North Carolina Militia. He is buried in Old Beech River Cemetery 1 1/2 miles North of Lexington, Tennessee, just off Huntingdon Highway on left. (The information about the revolutionary war could not be correct because he wasn't born until 1788. Perhaps they were referencing his father Francis who was born in 1758.)
