Mrs. William (Bill) Grinke Jr., 80, nee Alice Nora Kunz, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steve Qualben officiating. Marjorie Ottmers was the organist.
Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday evening, Nov. 28, in the chapel of Beckmann Funeral Home.
Mrs. Grinke was born March 31, 1928, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Harry Kunz and Lina Feller Kunz. She attended school at Morris Ranch and on May 21, 1950, married William (Bill) Grinke Jr. in Bethany Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1988.
In earlier years, she worked at the Eskay Sewing Factory. For the past six years, she was a part-time employee of the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
Mrs. Grinke was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she served on various committees in the church. She was a former member of the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the PTA.
Mrs. Grinke is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Glenn Jung of Fredericksburg; three grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
She is also survived by a sister, Roseda Itz, and a brother-in-law and his wife, Walton and Betty Grinke, all of Fredericksburg.
Her husband and parents preceded her in death.
Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included Garet Itz, Scott Itz, Justin Itz, Dennis Hannemann, J.C. Feller and Allen Rode. Honorary pallbearers included Joshua Jung, Melissa Jung, Michael Jung, Noah Jung and members of the Fredericksburg Volunteer Fire Department.
