WILLIAM PIERCE, Hope, missing in action.
The parents of William Pierce reside on a farm two miles out of Hope. Pierce is not recorded as going to the war from this county and joined the colors at some other place.

My grandfather, William's older brother Samuel S. Pierce told me that, Uncle Bill, was found several days later in a field hospital, where he was recovering from the effects of a Mustard Gas attack. he suffered from respiratory problems until his death.

Funeral services for Bill Pierce were held graveside here Tuesday under the auspices of the V.F.W. of which he was a member. Mr. Pierce passed away suddenly at his home in Pierce, Idaho. He is survived by his mother, Mrs Reinoehl; a brother Sam of Hope, and a sister at Tacoma, Washington; and two children Leslie and Shirley Pierce.
