OBITUARY
A Mass for John A. Burns, 81, of Forked River, a retired postal superintendent, will be offered at 9;30 a.m. Monday in St. Pius X Church, Forked River. The funeral will be from the Growney Funeral Home, 1022 Lacey Rd., Forked River.
Mr. Burns, who died Wednesday at home, was the superintendent of delivery and collection for the Elizabeth Post Office from 1941 to 1973 when he retired.
He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees in Lakewood.
Born and raised in Elizabeth, Mr. Burns lived in Ocean Gate before moving to Forked River in 1990.
Surviving are two sons, John W. and Robert M.; a daughter, Mrs. Kathy Buttermark; a sister, Mrs. Rita Walker, and five grandchildren.
