Shirley C Crockett, 73, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2007. Shirley was a native of Gwynn's Island, Mathews County, Virginia. She retired from the Newport News School system in 1993 after 22 years of service. She was an active member of the Gwynn's Island Baptist Church. Shirley was preceded in death by her mother Clarice B Callis and father Leonard (Scrooch) Callis. She is survived her loving husband, David C Crockett, Sr., son David, Jr. of York, PA, daughter Sabrina C Arrington and her husband Joel of Gloucester, VA and a daughter Deborah C Rogers and husband Herbert of Williamson, N C. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Caitlyn Rae Rogers, Jesse Anne Rogers and Emily Claire Crockett. A funeral service will be held at 10 am Thursday, June 14, at Gwynn's Island Baptist Church with the Rev Dave Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Gwynn's Island Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, June 13, at the Gwynn's Island Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 895 Middle Ground Blvd, Newport News, VA 23606. the Gwynn's Island Baptist Church building fund PO Box 26, Gwynn, VA 20366 or a charity of your choice
