CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Lucy Menard, 92, the former Lucy Prejean, who passed away at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at Rehabilitation Hospital of Acadiana in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro.
The Rev. William Gearheard, pastor of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Charlotte Jopling, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be "Amazing Grace", "Noble St. Anne", "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Ave Maria".
Ms. Menard was a native and lifelong resident of Carencro. She retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board, a cafeteria cook, with 15 years of service. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro and was a member of the Bonne Mort Society, the St. Anne Society and the Ladies Altar Society.
Survivors include two sons, Kernel Menard and his wife, Erline, of Lafayette, and Gerald L. Menard and his wife, Barbara, of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Patsy Menard Trahan, of Broussard, La.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jeanne M. Bernard, of Carencro.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude C. Menard; her parents, Elie Prejean and the former Georgina David, both natives of Carencro; five brothers, Leroy Prejean, George Prejean, David Prejean, Sidney Prejean and Estive Prejean; and two sisters, Vivian P. Mouton and Claudia P. Chiasson.
Pallbearers will be Scott Sherrets, Jeremy Hopkins, David Menard, Drake Bajat, Dan Sherrets and Patrick Trahan.
Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro, 4615 N. University Avenue, Louisiana was in charge of arrangements.
