Richard "Rich" Aiello Sr. (1932 - 2011)
Richard "Rich" Aiello Sr., 79, much beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Greenwood Chapel. Private interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Rich was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Harry and Thelma Wilkenson. He married his lovely wife, Mildred Arnold, in 1952. For 28 years, Rich served our country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and retired with the rank of chief master sergeant. He was also a member of the 809th Security Police Association. Following the U.S. Air Force, he spent a further 20 years serving his community as a police officer on the TCJC (now TCC) force. Rich had a number of hobbies such as hunting, fishing, golf, shooting skeet, cheating at Wheel of Fortune and of course providing sarcastic retorts. He was casual and laid-back with an infamous sense of humor, and was always there to lend a hand or give a hug. Rich was also an avid fan of Frank Sinatra, and though he will be dearly missed by family and friends, at least we can say with complete certainty that when it came to his life that he indeed "had it his way" and we are so thankful we got to spend it with him. In honor of Rich's lifelong aversion to formality, please come celebrate his life in casual but appropriate wear. No ties, no jackets, no pantyhose, no problem.
