SOUTHWEST HARBOR - Hilda Mitchell Berry, 85, died Jan 13, 2009, after a short illness. Hilda was born Oct 4, 1923, in Southwest Harbor, the second youngest of four children. She was a lifelong resident of Southwest Harbor. She married Andrew "Don" Berry in 1947, and raised their three children. Hilda worked for many years at Carroll Drug Store, Southwest Harbor, where she will be missed, but remembered fondly by her coworkers and the many friends and patrons who frequented the store. Hilda was predeceased by her parents, Lena Norwood Mitchell and Austin Mitchell; her husband, Andrew "Don" Berry; her older sister Alice Mitchell Bouchard; her younger brother, Austin "Wayne" Mitchell; and Shirley Berry Soares. She is survived by her eldest sister, Priscilla Trafton of Southwest Harbor; her daughter, Brenda Berry Lawson and her husband, Tom Lawson of Southwest Harbor; her son Fred Berry and his wife, Susan Barry of Ellsworth; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. A Spring interment is planned. The date will be announced at a later time.
